BNL Increases Global Reach Through Local Presence in India
July 2010
BNL (UK) Ltd, a leading plastic bearing designer and manufacturer, has established a full time local presence in New Delhi, India, to take advantage of the business opportunities presented by this fast growing economy.
Starting July 2010, it provides local support for BNL’s customers and a local resource to assist in developing BNL’s growing client base in the region.
BNL’s India activity is led by Business Development Manager, Mr. Amit Sharma. A qualified Mechanical Engineer, Amit has 10 years experience in engineering and sales for the bearing and automotive industry.
“This is a significant step towards the expansion of our markets and growth of our company”, stated Janicke Aitken, Business Development Director at BNL. “The Indian market is known to be more responsive to businesses with a local presence for meeting and sharing ideas and knowledge. Having a local resource, working for BNL at ground-level, is essential for developing our business and identifying opportunities for us in India.”
India is one of the top three most attractive investment destinations in the world and has strong future growth prospects. The country is predicted to experience a huge increase in consumer spending over the next ten years and this growth will further boost opportunities for business, especially in the manufacturing industry, which is forecast to develop rapidly in the next five years.
The establishment of a full time local presence in New Delhi follows BNL’s expansion into China earlier this year, where the company now operates from an office in Shanghai. Both regions are seen by BNL as key markets for their plastic bearing technology with enormous potential for growth.
BNL (UK) Ltd
BNL (UK) Ltd specialises in the design and manufacture of innovative thermoplastic bearing assemblies and technical moulding solutions. Plastic bearings offer many advantages over the traditional steel bearing, including anti-static properties, low friction and corrosion and chemical resistance. They are lightweight with low inertia and have no requirement for lubrication. BNL’s dedicated in-house design team is able to promote added value through the integration of other features - such as axles, gears, fixing clips, mounting flanges and pulleys - to form fully integrated bearing assemblies that maximise functionality and deliver whole system cost reductions. Headquartered in the United Kingdom, BNL maintains subsidiaries in Foxboro, Massachusetts (BNL [USA] Inc.), Tokyo, Japan (BNL [Japan] Inc.), Rayong, Thailand (BNL [Thailand] Ltd) and representative offices in Shanghai, China and New Delhi, India.
