BNL Invest in IT Network Security
BNL (UK) Limited appoints award winning IT Consultancy to support international IT network.
Network Integration Technologies LLP, the Leeds based networking and telecommunications consultancy, has been appointed as network security specialist by Knaresborough based BNL (UK) Ltd, international designers and manufacturers of innovative plastic bearings.
The contract, with a value in excess of £20,000 per year, is to provide network security and integrity solutions, plus support for BNL’s three current locations in North Yorkshire, Tokyo and Massachusetts and a new factory recently opened in Thailand. Initially, using specialist security technology from Checkpoint, Network Integration will create mirrored firewalls* to help BNL develop the levels of network resilience required by the company’s overall high-availability IT strategy and disaster recovery policy.
Sunil Sharma, IT Manager at BNL (UK) Ltd said; “Network Integration Technologies will provide us with a one-stop-shop for all our networking requirements. As specialists in network security ,they assisted us in the design, modelling, testing and implementation of our high-availability IT systems and Disaster Recovery policy, which are invaluable parts of BNL's Business Development plans”.
Network Integration recently implemented an Open Hand system to manage mobile email and other mobile applications on smart ‘phones for BNL’s management and sales teams. This means that staff travelling away from BNL’s key locations will be able to deal with ongoing communications and manage critical sales and product information in the field.
Network Integration Technologies LLP is also helping BNL implement an internet-based telephone system as part of their network. Converged data and voice networks making use of Voice over Internet Protocols (VoIP) have the potential for international businesses like BNL to make huge cost savings in telephone call charges. However, they require specialist knowledge to configure and support if they are to be reliable and successful.
Mr Sharma concluded; “Data and voice networking is critical to BNL because the specialist nature of our business means that key staff travel extensively and have to be able to handle complex technical data in real time even when they are away from the office. Our sales and design teams also need to collaborate with international colleagues at other locations, creating a high volume of telephone traffic.”
