Project Engineering Services
BNL has been providing ‘Innovative Bearing Solutions’ to customers for over 40 years. The key to providing inventive solutions to customers’ requirements is the creativity of our Project Engineering team. The team consists of research & development engineers, application engineers, design engineers, tool designers, toolmakers and production process engineers. Their objective is to create innovative products that provide significant benefits to customers, plus ensuring consistent and efficient delivery of service through the operation of formal project management processes.

In-house Design
With the latest CAD software at their fingertips, BNL’s dedicated in-house design team is able to achieve the best and most cost-effective solutions for customers. Carefully considering the functional requirements of the application from the outset, BNL work closely with customer's own design engineers promoting added value through the integration of additional features such as axles, shafts, gears, fixing clips, mounting flanges and pulleys, to form fully integrated assemblies that deliver whole system cost reductions. To validate designs, machined prototypes are provided in materials that closely mimic the qualities of the final moulded product and are subjected to rigorous in-house testing and analysis.
New Technology Centre
The performance parameters for plastic bearings are under constant review as improvements in materials and processing push the boundaries of known technology to its limits. The BNL New Technology Centre (NTC) was is established in 2009 to proactively research and develop our capabilities in plastic bearings and other components such as polymer gears and plastic shafts. Our team works in close partnership with our customers, material suppliers, academic institutions and engineering organisations to further technical understanding of these fields and apply them to our design and manufacture of product ranges.
The NTC also ensures current and new products are tested and analysed to make certain of there correct specification to customer and application requirments. This is undertaken on custom-designed rigs that are built in-house, to allow us to monitor bearing performance under specified conditions, and make accurate life span and load rating predictions.

An ability to work in close partnership with customers, in order to replace traditional steel bearings with custom-designed, plastic, cost reducing solutions, is what truly sets BNL apart from other bearing manufacturers.
Our Project Engineering team is based in BNL’s UK headquarters with Project Engineers located in offices in China the USA and Japan also. The NTC is based at our UK headquarters.
